Mr. Mahoney spent much of his 30-year career managing consumer and industrial companies. He began his career with Arthur Andersen, serving as a Manager in the New York office where he directed audit examinations. From 1973 to 1983, Mr. Mahoney advanced through positions of increasing responsibility at Bairnco Corporation, ultimately serving as President of the Crescent Lighting Division, which manufactured commercial and residential lighting fixtures.

From 1984 to 1987, Mr. Mahoney was Senior Vice President of Polychrome Corporation, a manufacturer of lithographic plates, film, ink and equipment for printers. While at Polychrome, he negotiated the purchase of a $600 million acquisition, managing all aspects of the tender offer and raising the necessary financing. In 1987 he joined Transkrit Corporation, serving as President of a $90 million printer of business forms and labels. From 1991 to 2001, Mr. Mahoney served as Founder, Chairman and CEO of Mail-Well, Inc., which he built into the third largest printer in North America. Mr. Mahoney built sales from $16 million to $2.4 billion through acquisitions and internal growth. The company went public in 1995, with subsequent acquisitions being financed through a combination of cash flow, stock and bond sales, and bank loans. Under Mr. Mahoney's leadership, Mail-Well's commercial printing business became the largest in North America, its envelope manufacturing business grew to be the largest in the world, and the label business became the second largest in North America.
